Well we have had some snow fall over the past week and cold temps along with it. Most of the hatches have stopped and we have switched to buggers in brown and black and seeing great action. If you head out to the river you can have it almost to yourself as the colder temps have drove the fisherman away and they have headed into the woods to chase big game. With the elections only a couple of weeks away i want to take the time to say please look into your canidates and see what there plans for our fisheries are, with all of the shoreline of the yellowstone already leased to oil companies just waiting to start the hydrofracking it has many outdoorsmen and women nervous and with good reason its the YELLOWSTONE RIVER! Good luck to all fellow flyfisherman that are braveing the snow and cold chasing those big browns.

Fall browns
What a beautiful day to be on the river in montana! Sunny warm day after a very cold evening makes for some great fishng. BWOs on the water once again and the browns are exploding to the surface to fill there bellys. With general rifle season starting in a couple days most montana sportsmans minds are set on big game witch opens up more river fishing oppertunity make sure you set asside a couple a days a week to hit the river during the rifle season.

What a great season
What an amazing year fishing the great state of montana! After purchasing a new 10ft outcast pontoon which gave me access to more water this year i spent over 55 days on the water this summer. Ive fished the lower and upper madison, the gallitan and east gallitan rivers this year. It helps that the Gallitan is right out my door and the madison is only a short 20 min drive. With the warm afternoon temps the fishing is still good right now. I hooked a beautiful brown tonight that tossed the hook and sent my fly sailing back at me with a few choice words i was back casting. I have been doing well on stimmulators brown weighted buggers and BWOs in the evening with the browns getting agressive. The lack of snow last winter and no rain to speak of this summer the water is still very low but you can still find some deep holes if you put in the time to look.
